Dr Astles and Dr Borley are to go part -time due to taking semi-retirement. This means they will have less appointments available but we are taking on a new GP Dr Kuljit Johal to cover the appointments we have lost.
INFORMATION FOR PATIENTS
THIS IS TO UPDATE YOU ON THE SITUATION AT SPRINGFIELD ROAD REGARDING APPOINTMENT AVAILABILITY
WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR LEICESTERSHIRE PARTNERSHIP TRUST, WHO OWNS THE BUILDING, TO MAKE A DECISION ON THE VACATED ROOMS LEFT BY THE PREVIOUS PRACTICE IN APRIL 2016.
WE PUT IN AN APPLICATION IN FEBRUARY 2016 WITH THE VIEW TO TAKE OVER THE ROOMS WHEN THEY WERE VACATED IN APRIL, THIS WOULD HAVE ENABLED US TO OFFER OUR PATIENTS MORE AVAILABILITY.
WE ARE TRYING VERY HARD TO RESOLVE THIS SITUATION AND NOW HAVE INVOLVED LOCAL GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS TO HELP US TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE.
WE UNDERSTAND THE FRUSTRATION PATIENTS FEEL AND WE ALSO FEEL THE SAME, WE ASK THAT YOU TRY TO UNDERSTAND THE PRESSURE THE PRACTICE IS UNDER TO CONTINUE PROVIDING THE EXCELLENT CARE WE HAVE ALWAYS DELIVERED.
DR ASTLES & PARTNERS
THE PRACTICE IS REQUIRED BY THE GOVERNMENT UNDER THE TERMS OF THE LATEST GP CONTRACT TO ALLOCATE ALL PATIENTS A NAMED ACCOUNTABLE GP.
THE PRACTICE DOES KEEP A RECORD OF YOUR REGISTERED (ACCOUNTABLE) GP. IF YOU WISH TO BE TOLD THE NAME OF YOUR ACCOUNTABLE GP, PLEASE ASK THE RECEPTIONISTS WHEN YOU ARE NEXT IN THE SURGERY.
PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO NEED TO TELEPHONE THE PRACTICE FOR THIS INFORMATION.
HAVING A NAMED GP DOES NOT PREVENT YOU SEEING ANY OTHER DOCTOR IN THE PRACTICE. YOUR NAMED GP WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT ALL TIMES AND YOU MANY NEED TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT WITH AN ALTERNATIVE DOCTOR

Summary Care Record
View your summary care record Online
Medical Interoperabiility Gateway (MIG)
Whilst the 'Summary Care Record' (SCR) system makes a very small protion of your medical record available across the whole NHS (and can be viewed by a range of staff in an emergency), the MIG shares a much fuller view of your records but only with local NHS providers- and only when you give explicit consent to a doctor or nurse at the point of care. This local shceme is adminstered by our local I.T. Service Commissioners who have produced a fact sheet to inform you of these processes. If you should like to opt out of the MIG entirely please let us know and we will add a code to your notes that will prevent any data uploads.
