Minor Surgery

The Doctors are happy to perform minor surgery which can save hospital referral. A cryotherapy clinic for the treatment of verrucas and warts is held on a regular basis. Please contact the surgery for details.

Pharmacy First

If you have a minor ailment e.g thrush, sore throat, cough, cold, hay fever, cold sores etc it can be treated at the local chemist under a scheme called Pharmacy First. All you need to do is go to a participating chemist and ask to see the Parmacist under the Pharmacy First scheme. The pharmacist will then assess and treat you with medication which can be bought over the counter but if you do not pay for your prescriptions you will not be charged for the items given to you. 

Ante-natal and Post-natal Care

We have a midwife attached to the practice and will see all our mums-to-be regarding the health and welfare of themselves and the baby throughout pregnancy and after delivery.

Health Visitors

Our Health Visitors are here to help you with questions regarding any children under the age of 5. They first contact you when your new baby is about 10days old and then have regular contact through-out your childs formative years for development assessments and immunisations.

Travel Advice

Our Practice Nurses are always happy to talk over your travel plans and to give you advice regarding relevant vaccinations and any medication e.g Malaria which you will need while on holiday. Please contact the surgey at least 6 weeks before you travel. You will need to complete a pre travel questionaire.

The nurse will then contact you by telephone and book you an appointment if you require any vaccinations. You can download the travel advice leaflet below which gives general advice when travelling abroad.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

Yellow Fever Vaccinations

We are a designated Yellow Fever Centre and can administer the vaccine to anyone who requires it, they do not have to be registered with this practice.

There is a charge for the vaccine which is £55 per person and we would expect payment 1 week before your appointment, if you are paying by cheque please make it payable to Willowbrook Medical Ltd.

Please allow plenty of time before you travel to book in for your vaccinations, you will be asked to fill in a travel questionnaire on arrival for your appointment. General Enquiries please call : 0116 2432727
